Sparkplug and Talon and the Deadly Mission: book two
Sparkplug and Talon and
the deadly
Mission
Tom Plex was at his friend’s
house playing football when his watch buzzed.
Tom looked down; his watch displayed a GPS coordinates the number two and the word, mission.
“Got to go, see ya,” Tom said
to his friend, tossing the football in a neat spiral.
Tom ran to his house as
fast as he could and ran to his sister’s room.
“Let’s go,” Sally said.
The siblings dashed down the stairs.
The two kids were friends and they were both super heroes.
Tom’s powers were
electricity, he could fly, make lightning and he could make a lightning rope. His
superhero name was Sparkplug.
Sally’s power was that she
could turn into five different animals, a monkey, a dolphin, a common swift, a peregrine
falcon, and a cougar. Her superhero name was Talon.
The siblings ran outside
and Tom yelled to his mom, “Bye mom, me and Sally are walking to the park, so
don’t expect us to be back anytime soon.”
The siblings pressed their
watches in unison and instantly their suits were on them.
Tom’s suit was similar to Spiderman's except it was electric blue and had a yellow lightning bolt on the shoulder instead of a spider on the chest.
Sally’s was like Black Widow's from the Avengers but it was the color of a cougar's fur.
Tom jumped onto a roof and
took off into the bright blue sky.
A Peregrine Falcon caught
up to him and squawked.
Sparkplug (Tom) looked at
his watch again.
It read. 'your mission is to
destroy the enemy fighter jets that are flying over the Pacific.'
Sparkplug looked at Talon
(Sally,) who nodded to let Tom know that she had gotten the message on her watch too.
The siblings rocketed through the air until
finally four jets came into view.
Talon flew right over one then turned into a cougar and dropped onto the plane, she then broke the glass and threw the pilot out. She turned into a human and then did the impossible. She flew the plane! Talon pushed the joy stick down and the plane into the ocean.
Sparkplug froze in midair, waiting to see what would happen.
Suddenly a dolphin jumped out of the water, turned into a falcon, and soared back into the battle to morph into a cougar and slam the wing off of a jet so that it spiraled down and out of the fight. The pilot ejected, shooting into the air, clinging to his seat. His parachute unfurled. Talon flew down and motioned for Sparkplug.
Sparkplug flew down next to her and the bird landed on his back and turned into Sally. Sparkplug plummeted several feet before catching himself and holding steady.
"Are you okay?" Sally asked the enemy pilot.
"Yeah," the man answered in a thick accent that Sparkplug couldn't place. "How you fly?"
"We're superheroes," Sparkplug explained. "We're sorry for taking you down but you were trying to hurt our country."
"I understand," the man answered. "I wasn't a big fan of this mission but I went on it anyway."
"We just wanted to say sorry," Sally apologized before changing into a small bird and streaking up into the sky to scout."
Sparkplug saluted the pilot and flew toward the other two planes and shot bolt after bolt of electricity at the other two jets. One bolt smashed the glass of an enemy aircraft. Sparkplug lassoed the pilot out of his seat. The jet fell into the sea. Sparkplug turned toward the final airplane. There was the deafening sound of a machine gun and there was a sharp pain in his left arm. He looked down part, of his suit had ripped off and some of his skin was gone, a trickle of blood crawled to his fingertips, he'd been shot! Everything went in slow motion then. Sparkplug was filled with anger and rage. He flew to the last jet, the one that had shot him, smashed on the glass, sending lightning through his arm and into the glass. The window shattered.
Sparkplug ripped the pilot helmet off and punched him in the face. He made a small ball of lightning and pushed it against the pilot's chest. He refrained for killing the pilot, after all he had tried to kill Sparkplug. But no matter what happened Sparkplug couldn't kill somone. So he just stunned him. Then he made a lightning rope with barely any lightning and backed up. With the rope he yanked the ejection handle and the pilot zoomed into the air. Tom met Sally in the air and together they flew to their house.
When they landed the small swift turned into Sally and exclaimed, “Tom, you're bleeding!"
Tom looked at his arm and winced, “the bullet just grazed the skin.”
Sally gasped, “You were
shot?”
“Yup, but I got the pilot
back, I made a ball of solid lightning and pushed it in the pilot gut, I think
he's stunned," Tom said.
Sally and Tom looked at each
other and at the same time they said, “That was a realy dangerous mission.”
Sally took off her suit
and ran inside their house then she came back with a bandage, “I opened your
window so that you can fly into your room.”
Tom said thanks, wrapped
his arm in the bandage and flew into his room.
He pressed on his watch
and his suit disappeared.
Tom grabbed a book and
started to read.
When he went down for
dinner his mom gasped and said, “Tom what happened to your arm?”
“Oh, uh, I cut it at the
park,” Tom said.
Tom’s mom wanted to see
the cut so Tom showed it to her.
Tom’s mom traded the
bandage for a round Band-Aid.
A couple weeks later tom’s
cut had healed completely and he was ready to go on missions with Sally.
He was excited to be Sparkplug again.
